How to store your Lenovo ThinkPad E50 Battery
Keep your Lenovo ThinkPad E50 Battery in a cool and dry storage area.Do not fully charge your Lenovo batteries before storage.Do not store your ThinkPad E50 battery fully depleted.Do not stockpile your replacement batteries and avoid buying dated stock.Never leave a nickel-based battery sitting on a charger for more than a few days.Always store a lead acid battery in full-charge condition. Observe the open terminal voltage and recharge the battery as recommended by the manufacturer.
Seven more ThinkPad E50 battery-maxing tips:
1) Open Network Port Configurations under the Network Preferences panel and turn off all unneeded networking ports (Modem, USB, Ethernet, etc.) Also turn-off Airport and Bluetooth unless needed. Killing power to the network interfaces will add at least 10-15 minutes to the battery life in my experience.
2) Create a System Preferences location ( I called it "BatteryMax") and set all the power-saving options that you want. That way you can switch to/from a frugal mode quickly.
3) If you only have a short amount of time for recharging (e.g., just before a flight), then either don't use the computer or use it will all the power-savings tactics. The standard Apple power-brick doesn't supply enough power to both recharge the battery quickly and run the computer at full power. The less you use the computer, the faster the battery will recharge.
4) Quit any monitoring applications (e.g. Activity Monitor) or change their preferences for a longer time between updates.
5) Disable plug-ins and javascript in your web browser to reduce CPU load from animated ads and websites.
6) Use the internal trackpad, not a separate plug-in mouse.
7) Use light-weight applications (e.g. Textedit instead of MS Word) for text entry
